Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Grants

Overview
The Appalachian Regional Commission provides supplemental infrastructure grants for projects funded through other federal programs. Grants generally cannot exceed 50% of the total project cost. Access roads are the exception, with funding up to 80 percent of the project.

In order to be selected as a grant recipient, the funded project must demonstrate measurable results including but not limited to jobs created, jobs retained, businesses served, and businesses created. Typically, ARC grants are awarded to state and local agencies, governmental entities, local governing boards, and nonprofit organizations.

Activities that are eligible for ARC grant funding include:
  1.  Business Development and Entrepreneurship
  2.  Education and Training
  3.  Health Care
  4.  Physical Infrastructure
  5.  Leadership Development and Civic Capacity
